Generation HC Scholars

The Generation HC Program (Gen HC) engages, celebrates, and supports first-generation Honors College students throughout their first year at college. Being a first-generation (first-gen) student, the first in their families to go to college, is an exceptional accomplishment and a testament to their academic strength, grit, and determination.

Participants in the Gen-HC program receive additional support, co-curricular programming, mentoring (including from the Dean who was also a first-gen student), and social events. The program is led and guided by a graduate student intern within the Honors College team.

LGBTQ+ Learning Collaborative Scholars

Our LGBTQ+ Learning Collaborative Scholars are selected through a competitive application for one of two distinct opportunities: academic research or study abroad in Uruguay.

Uniquely, LGBTQ+ LC scholars are not exclusive to students who identify with any of the communities as an individual, but are open to all students who can show a relationship to LGBTQ+ issues, history, or contemporary events in their work.

Each scholarship is awarded for up to $3,000 for documented research travel and engagement or following acceptance into the designated study abroad program in Montevideo, Uruguay at the Universidad ORT for their unique summer experience.

Presidential Scholars

Rutgers' premier merit scholarship program, the Presidential Scholars program provides participants an all-encompassing set of exclusive workshops, programs, mentorship, and opportunities for advanced placement in research, internships, and networking, all guided by the Dean of the College.

Recipients are selected through the admission process to the Honors College and receive a four-year, merit scholarship. The scholarship is not indexed to inflation or increases in tuition and fees, thus the amount will remain constant over the entire term of the scholarship. Recipients are also provided two years of on-campus housing in one of the various Honors residence halls and, if desired, guaranteed on-campus housing (but not any one specific location) for all four years.

When you become a Presidential Scholar, you join a community of motivated learners and passionate intellectuals, including from prior class years, who will help guide you and provide valuable insights from their earlier experiences. Presidential Scholars are provided opportunities to serve as ambassadors for the College in meetings with donors, administration, distinguished guests, and participate in unique social and cohort-based events.
