About Us

At Rutgers University–New Brunswick, we’ve harnessed the vast resources of our renowned research university to create something extraordinary—the uncommon Honors College, a living-learning community focused on learning about and addressing global challenges and transforming ideas into action.

The Honors College is a place where positive social impact is born out of collaboration between students and faculty from across the liberal arts and professional schools.

This is a place founded on the notion of doing well by doing good—it’s at our core.

Our goal? To prepare you for a career with purpose.

At the state-of-the-art Honors College, students have opportunities from the very beginning, including exposure to research, extensive collaboration with fellow students and faculty, and even one-on-one discussions with live-in faculty to share ideas, play music, and get a cup of coffee. Students collaborate in the high-tech seminar rooms, in the Innovation Lab, and in the many lounges and study areas throughout the building. They also have on-site academic advising and administrative support.

At the center of the Honors College experience is the mission course, the Forum, where social impact and collaboration are the focus, and where many ideas are initiated and later developed. In addition, students pursue travel abroad and service projects, and work with internationally acclaimed faculty in labs, in the archives, and in the field, where knowledge is developed firsthand.

Each year, approximately 500 students are invited to begin their four-year experience as part of the Honors College. Our community includes students from these liberal arts and professional schools at Rutgers–New Brunswick: the School of Arts and Sciences, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, School of Engineering, Rutgers Business School, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, and Mason Gross School of the Arts.

Founded in 2015, the Honors College offers an education for the twenty-first century while reflecting on the university’s rich 250+ year history. Located on the historic College Avenue Campus, the Honors College rises from a bluff overlooking the Raritan River. On warm days, honors students gather below the clock tower in the college’s courtyard that spills out onto a campus green framed by ivy-covered halls, a place of Revolution-era skirmishes and ancient college traditions.

This is more than a place of study. It’s more than a college experience. The Honors College is a home for students who want to learn and to help make the world a better place.

Curiosity. Knowledge. Purpose.
