Faculty Fellows and Honors Faculty

The Honors College draws on faculty and faculty fellows from across the university to teach, mentor, advise, and enrich both the academic and the day-to-day co- and extra-curricular experiences of Honors College students, who interact with them in class, social and study lounges, the field, the lab, and through unique events.

Particularly unique to the Honors College Learning-Living community are our Affiliated and our Residential Faculty Fellows.

And through our academic offerings, students will learn from and alongside over 200 different Rutgers University faculty members, of all levels and areas of specialization, including librarians, writing instructors, Pulitzer Prize finalists, members of the American Academy of Sciences, center directors, news pundits, performing artists, practicing healthcare professionals, legal minds, and global experts.

Meet Our Honors College Faculty Fellows

Residential Faculty Fellows not only teach in the Honors College—they also live there and engage our students from the start of the day until late at night. Affiliated Faculty Fellows, on the other-hand, bring their expertise into the College's various programming and opportunities, to highlight ways that a Learning-Living community can be one of the biggest assets of a student's academic experience.

Through a special program, the Douglass—Honors College Residential Program, we also have a rotating Faculty Fellow position that is held by a different faculty member each year. The selected faculty brings to the role their academic focus, that aligns with the program's theme, and leads participants in unique and exclusive learning programs.

In fact, all the Faculty Fellows are integral to the Honors College experience. Field trips, dinners together, pop-up learning sessions, structured academic panels, invited guests and lecturers, and informal discussions across campus or in the social lounges of our many residence halls, all provide opportunities for Honors College students to live and learn in this high-impact, expansive environment that we call the Honors College.

Meet the Honors College Faculty

Our faculty are from across the University, coming to us from numerous departments and Schools, in order to offer you some of the most dynamic and interesting courses on campus.

Faculty have to apply to join the Honors College and propose a course (or courses) that then go through a rigorous intellectual and pedagogical review. Once selected, faculty agree to participate in collective workshops, adhere to some specific guidelines, deliver a stimulating and experimental course, engage with the Honors College Common Read program (when appropriate), and integrate, when possible, elements that extend the impact of the course such as guest speakers, site visits, special viewings of exhibits are performances, and more.

Many more faculty are also engaged with the College through our Capstone and +Honors Contract Course options, serving as mentors, facilitators of deeper and extended learning, and helping our students achieve levels of success and learning that are unparalleled.

You can learn more about those who teach for us by visiting the Interdisciplinary Honors Courses site and several of our other programming sites within our Student Affairs focus.
