Honors College students pursue a variety of professional opportunities and preparation for advanced education with the support of the Rutgers community, the Rutgers Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES), alumni, and employers.
Honors College students can utilize several resources to research and connect with leadership roles, academic research, internships, part-time positions, jobs, and other portfolio-building opportunities:
- Weekly Honors College Opportunity Newsletters including academic research, networking events and lectures, internships, jobs, scholarships, skill and knowledge-building opportunities, conferences, competitions, and more
- Advising sessions with Pre-Law Advising, the Health Professions Office, Rutgers Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES), and academic and program departments throughout campus
- Micro-Internships can be accessed through the Parker Dewey platform, providing Honors College students with access to short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns
- Rutgers Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES) and Department/School Career Fairs, Upcoming CES Workshops, and Visiting Recruiter Events
- Students should regularly check out the employment listings available on Rutgers Handshake, your primary career management portal brought to you by the Office of Career Exploration and Success. On-campus part-time jobs are also regularly posted to the platform by campus departments.
- Rutgers Global provides career information, resources, and support for International Students
- Rutgers Office of Distinguished Fellowships provides a canvas course to orient you to the fellowships process, a database to search all of the available educational opportunities, and a mailing list to stay up-to-date on info sessions and application cycles
- Online Tools, whether you are choosing majors/careers, planning a job search, or applying to graduate schools, the Office of Career Exploration and Success (CES) has online resources to help you develop your career action plans! These are available to all eligible students by logging in with your NetID and password to Rutgers Handshake and selecting "Career Resources".
- Student Alumni Career Connect provides a place for Rutgers students and alumni to connect and network online! Get exposure to different industries and jobs, get resume advice, and hone your interview skills. Employers are looking for specific skills and experience - alumni mentors may hold the keys. Make sure to indicate that you are an Honors student when setting up your profile!
- Climate and Energy Institute: Explore job postings, scholarship opportunities, graduate programs, and more at the Rutgers Climate and Energy Institute Opportunities page. Opportunities are regularly updated.
- Rutgers Center for Critical Intelligence Studies: For opportunities, including scholarly events and internship postings, sign up for their weekly newsletter.
- Eagleton Institute of Politics: Eagleton studies how American politics and government work and change, offers critical analysis on strengthening democratic processes, and champions active citizenship through robust civic engagement initiatives. Sign up for their newsletters to find out about engagement opportunities.
- Rutgers Jobs: Students can sign up for Job Alerts by selecting Rutgers departments that might interest them for part-time roles and research assistantships.
- getINVOLVED with Rutgers Campus Organizations: Check out campus organizations that fit your interests, help you form a Rutgers network, gain leadership experience, and explore potential career paths. An expansive list of clubs and events can be found at getINVOLVED.

- Rutgers Global: The Passport to the World Initiative is open to all enrolled Rutgers students who are U.S. citizens and have never received an adult U.S. passport. Applicants who are accepted will have their passport acquisition process fully funded, along with step-by-step support from the Rutgers Global team.
- Career Portrait Lounges, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson at CES, now offer two self-service photography studios available to students to take their candidacy and digital brand to the next level. Students can schedule appointments via their Rutgers Handshake account at one of two locations: 106 Somerset Street, 4th Floor, New Brunswick, NJ 08901 (College Ave Campus) or 604 Bartholomew Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 (Busch Campus).
- The Career Closet offers new and gently used professional attire, helping students make strong impressions at interviews, internships, and career fairs. Dressing rooms are available, and students are allowed to take up to four articles of clothing each semester, free of charge. Students can schedule appointments via their Rutgers Handshake accounts. The Career Closet is in the CES College Avenue Campus location.
- Success.rutgers.edu is dedicated to helping students find all of the services and resources to succeed. Organized around four themes—Success Essentials, Academic Support Services, Involvement & Community, and Experiential Learning & Career Preparation—the site is easily searchable and includes important "How To" instructional videos and guides for topics such as Course Scheduling, Add/Drop, Canvas, Teams, the Handshake Career Management platform, and more.
