HC Junior as a student entrepreneur, and a student of entrepreneurship

At the Honors College, students have the opportunity to see and hear works of art and to experience new and creative ways of looking at the world.
Joy Buolamwini visited the Honors College on January 31, 2017 where she met with different groups of students throughout the day and later gave a special lecture about her work to fight bias in machine learning, develop social impact technology, and write inclusive coding–called incoding. Ms. Buolamwini is a graduate researcher with the Civic Media group at the MIT Media Lab. She was the inaugural speaker for the Navesink Wealth Management Endowed Honors College Annual Lecture Series.
Honors College students Rob Helsel ('19, SEBS/HC) and Charlotte Singer ('19, SAS/HC) were awarded scholarships to attend the Smithsonian Institution's inaugural Earth Optimism Summit this April in Washington, DC. Positioned as a master class in saving the planet, more than 150 speakers and 1,000 thought leaders, scientists, artists, environmentalists, and civic and business leaders from around the world, as well as students and young professionals, gathered over three days to share stories of what's working in conservation.
For girls, by girls: joining the global fight for gender equality
As the United Nations prepares to commemorate the International Day of the Girl, on October 11, three Rutgers-New Brunswick students reflected on their recent work as advocates for the rights of girls around the world.
Joshua Landes, Co-founder and Co-manager of New York based hedge fund Wynnefield Partners Small Cap Value L.P., joined Honors College students recently for a Knightly Roundtable to discuss creating your own success and balancing career, personal passions, and family. Mr. Landes is a distinguished Rutgers alum and friend of the Honors College.
Six HC students were among 14 Rutgers students in all who were invited this October to the Clinton Global Initiative University to share their ideas for social innovation. Dean Matsuda joined the students in Boston for this exciting event!
On November 1, innovators from across Rutgers and industry gathered for the first-ever Rutgers Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo, featuring keynotes, career panels, exhibits, networking, and a pitch competition. With expert independent judges from law, business, design, and industry, undergrad students competed with three-minute pitches, slides, and Q&A for cash prizes, mentorships, and bragging rights.
The Honors College represented well taking home the top three spots. Congratulations to:
