About the Honors Peer Mentor Program
The Honors Peer Mentor Program (HPMP) connects first-year students to their continuing student peers as part of the Honors experience. Our leaders represent the diversity of Rutgers and demonstrate to Honors students they belong in our communities. By participating in this program, new honors students will gain insight into navigating the diverse academic, co-curricular, and professional areas of college life, as well as begin to build community at Rutgers. Through exclusive social events and workshops, Honors Peer Mentors help new students learn how to navigate the honors journey to thrive as scholars.
As we become one integrated Honors community, this group is open to all current honors students from the Honors College, School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program, School of Engineering Honors Academy, and School of Environmental and Biological Sciences Honors Program to serve as Peer Mentors and to all incoming Honors College students as Mentees.

Name | School/Year | Major / Minor | Rutgers E-mail | Advice |
---|---|---|---|---|
Daniel Acosta | '28, SAS/HC | Cell Biology and Neuroscience / Undecided | da693@scarletmail.rutgers.edu | Make the most of this time in your life. Explore new opportunities, engage with your peers, let go of past regrets, and embrace the present moment. These four years will change you, helping you become more capable and resilient in facing life’s challenges. College is different from high school; it not only requires you to learn the material but also to manage how you learn it. Each class will push you to develop these skills. You'll find that there are many resources available at your disposal. Still, despite the variety of external assistance, during the exam, it will come down to how you used those resources and time to learn, not just study the material. You are capable of many things; if that is not apparent, you will find many surprises awaiting your time here. |
