Teaching Contract Courses

Contract Courses

In addition to the dedicated honors courses and sections, SAS Honors Program and Honors College students can earn honors course credits through a contract with individual faculty members to take standard courses for honors credit. The SAS Honors Program and the Honors College have similar contract forms, which must be filled out and submitted by the student (with the professor’s agreement) prior to the beginning of the semester. The forms ask for the professor to stipulate what additional work—readings, assignments, presentations—the student will complete and require a copy of the regular syllabus. These courses are offered at the professor’s discretion. For smaller departments, this option presents a way to allow students to pursue more honors work without dedicating entire sections as honors.

Graduate courses can also potentially be taken as contract courses.
