Teaching +Honors Contract Courses

+Honors Contract Courses

In addition to the dedicated honors courses and sections regularly offered in the curriculums of departments and majors, Honors College students can earn honors course credits through a contract with individual faculty members to take standard courses for honors credit.

The Honors College works with students to submit a +Honors Contract Course form, which must be filled out and submitted by the student (with the your, the professor, agreement and active approval) prior to the end of add/drop at the beginning of each semester.

The forms ask for the professor to stipulate what academic work—readings, assignments, presentations, writings, public scholarship—the student will undertake in a substantively different and fundamentally more challenging approach, and essentially modify the regular syllabus to turn the course into an enriched and enhanced honors experience.

These courses are offered at the professor’s discretion. For smaller departments, this option presents a way to allow students to pursue more honors work without dedicating entire sections as honors.

Graduate courses can also potentially be taken as contract courses.
