The Honors College Forum culminates in interdisciplinary project-based teams presenting detailed plans for change-making products, services, or initiatives. At the end of the fall 2015 semester, an impressive range of innovation and creativity was on display in the many projects presented in sections and in the plenary pitch competition.
To nurture these and other excellent ideas, the Honors College is creating the Innovation Lab, which will be led by Mukesh Patel, founder and CEO of JuiceTank, a New Jersey-based business incubator and co-working space, co-founder of NextBridge, a private equity firm, and an entrepreneurial attorney. Mr. Patel, a Rutgers alumnus, is an adjunct professor at the Rutgers Business School and serves as an advisor for the Masters of Business Science program. The Innovation Lab is slated to open this fall.
Students may apply for Innovation Lab Fellowships beginning this semester. The Fellowships will afford students the opportunity to develop their ideas under the mentorship of Mr. Patel, network with industry experts, receive seed funding and expanded research resources, and generate prototypes in a mini-maker space using high tech tools such as computer assisted design and 3D printers—all experiences intended to further these ideas with the goal of meaningful innovation.
Apply now for the Fall 2016 Innovation Lab Fellowship. If you have any questions about the application process, please contact Administrative Dean Paul Gilmore.
