Through key campus, institutional, and business partnerships, we are able to offer the following additional opportunities to Honors College students. These programs provide rich, real-world experiences to our students and reflect our mission of Curiosity. Knowledge, and Purpose.
MBS Externship Exchange Program
Through the Honors College partnership with the Rutgers Master of Business and Science (MBS) degree program, students have the opportunity to participate in the MBS Externship Exchange program, working on a team of MBS and HC students for 8-10 hours per week to complete employer sponsored projects blending science with business.
FCHS Internship Program
Rutgers Cooperative Extension (RCE) helps the diverse population of New Jersey adapt to a rapidly changing society and improve their lives and communities through an educational process that uses science-based knowledge. RCE’s Department of Family and Community Health Sciences (FCHS) helps people stay healthy, enjoy life, be active, and reduce healthcare costs by combining research and practical advice to improve their health for a better tomorrow. FCHS’s internships allow students to see how everything they have learned in their courses relates to the broader world of public and community health. The goal of the internship is to further students' practical experience while enhancing the work of public and community health. Through the internship, students will have the opportunity to demonstrate an integration of coursework into a real-world setting, preparing them for professional careers and advanced degrees.
The Justice Health Summer Program
The Justice Health Summer Program is the first program of its kind in the country. Through the Honors College partnership with University Correctional Health Care and a new partnership with the IDEA Program at Rutgers, HC students have the opportunity to participate in a summer program with healthcare providers in the NJ Correctional System and implement a health education project.
CHIRP Program
The program “CHIRP” is a collaboration between the Child Health Institute of New Jersey (CHINJ) at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and the Honors College at Rutgers-New Brunswick. The CHIRP summer experience includes “hands-on” laboratory research, weekly exposure to clinical research, as well as a symposium at which students present their research findings.
