For the last two years, I have been working as part of a research group, led by Professor Stephen Schnetzer, in the High-Energy Experimental section of the physics department here at Rutgers. The focus of our research has been the search for a hypothesized new subatomic particle, known as a vector-like quark (VLQ). Belonging to a class of elementary particles, quarks comprise part of the building blocks of the universe, coming together to form such particles as protons and neutrons, which in turn constitute atomic nuclei.

Booker leads charge to get college students to vote after Florida shooting

After student activists organized last month's marches for stronger gun laws, U.S. Sen. Cory Booker said there was a way they could have an even bigger impact: Register and vote.

Booker, D-N.J., and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., introduced legislation Wednesday requiring colleges to take a more active role in making students eligible to vote.

Tap Tap Into My Byrne Seminar!

Minhee with her team working on an electronic keyboard

When choosing my Byrne Seminar for the spring semester, I knew immediately that I wanted to take a paper-based electronics class. As someone who has an interest in both art and science, I thought that I could truly let my creativity flow. I wasn't completely sure what to expect, but I was excited to find out. Dr. Mazzeo, an Honors College Faculty Fellow who lives in the building and an engineering professor, teaches this course. His Byrne revolved around incorporating capacitive touch into any project you desired.

This quote and this picture (first above, left), taken at Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, tell the story of a trip taken out of curiosity, and fueled by adventure. Over spring break, I visited Japan as 1 of 23 students chosen to represent Rutgers Business School as part of the Kakehashi Project, a program designed to promote friendship ties between Japan and citizens of North American countries.

Congratulations to the Winners of the Spring 2018 Forum Pitch Competition!

First Place: CoCorazón
Second Place: AquaSol
Third Place: Project R—Rehabilitation, Recovery, Results

As all Honors College members have before them, first-year students demonstrated our mission this spring by creating more than 50 extraordinary social innovation projects intended to improve the lives of others, while they also learned to work together to define, shape, and articulate their ideas. Their peers selected just 12 project teams to present at the Forum plenary on a single night before a panel of judges from business and academia.
