Intercultural Meetup

Learn about involvement with our student-led affinity groups! Affinity Groups are student led and are intended to provide students with a place to discuss issues directly impacting their experiences at the Honors College and in the greater Rutgers community. Representatives from the Asian Affinity Group, Black Affinity Group, Latinx Affinity Group, LGBTQ+ Affinity Group, Middle Eastern Affinity Group,  and International Student Affinity Group will be present.

LGBTQ+ Learning Collaborative Interest Meeting

Join Honors College faculty, staff, and fellow students to learn about ways to get involved with the newly formed LGBTQ+ Learning Collaborative, which helps to build community through learning with LGBTQ+ individuals, allies, and supporters. This program has sponsored events like screenings from the Film Appreciation Series and an inclusive safe-sex education workshop.

Join the Honors College Middle Eastern Affinity Group for an unforgettable evening of rich culture, warm connections, and lively rhythms at Cafe Night & Dabke Delight! This vibrant event blends the comfort of traditional Arabic coffee and sweets with the high-energy spirit of dabke, the beloved Levantine folk dance. 

Rock Your Roots: Celebrating Black History Month

Join us to honor the past, celebrate the legacy, and uplift Black history together through a panel discussion, performances, and presentations. Dr. Priscilla Ferreira, an Afro-Brazilian geographer who works on solidarity economies, is a scholar-activist who will discuss the power and complexities of what it means to be Black in this moment. HC Faculty Fellow Dr. Nicole Burrowes will give a mini lecture on the history of "Black History Month." There will also be a Black history slideshow and student leader panelists will lead a discussion.

Smash the Stigma: Celebrating National First-Generation College Student Day

Join the Honors College for “Smash the Stigma,” a high-energy mental health workshop in celebration of National First-Generation College Student Celebration Day, open to all students. Release stress through plate-smashing and stress piñatas, enjoy free food, and earn one HC Serves hour while connecting with peers and learning from CAPS Counselor Shan Reeves. Engage in an open discussion that explores the meaning of being first-generation, the diversity of educational backgrounds, and how students can reflect on privilege and academic pressure during midterm season.

The Future of Latinx Professionals Panel

Join the Latinx Affinity Group at our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month! We will be hearing from accomplished student leaders from different cultural, pre-professional organizations, including the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA), Latinx Pre Law Society, Latino Student Council, Society of Hispanic Engineers, and more!
