Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

The New Brunswick Department of Human and Community Services, with sponsorship from the Rutgers Honors College - New Brunswick, invites you to participate in its Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on January 24th at the Hub Center, 411 Joyce Kilmer Ave. Activities include preparing and bagging lunches, community conversations, assembling hygiene kits, and networking opportunities. MLK Day of Service: Vision Boards w/ SVE & Scarlet Arts Rx

Join Student Volunteer Engagement, Scarlet Arts Rx, and the Honors College as we honor the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. We will honor the legacy of Dr. King and his commitment to service through an evening of creativity and learning. Every attendee will be led by an experienced arts student to create their own vision board, using the theme of "service to others". Learn about all of the different service opportunities available for the spring semester, too. Dinner will be served! Earn 2 HC Serves hours.

Rock Your Roots: Celebrating Black History Month

Join us to honor the past, celebrate the legacy, and uplift Black history together through a panel discussion, performances, and presentations. Dr. Priscilla Ferreira, an Afro-Brazilian geographer who works on solidarity economies, is a scholar-activist who will discuss the power and complexities of what it means to be Black in this moment. HC Faculty Fellow Dr. Nicole Burrowes will give a mini lecture on the history of "Black History Month." There will also be a Black history slideshow and student leader panelists will lead a discussion.
