Yesha Parekh
Yesha is a rising third-year medical student at RWJMS through the 7-year BA/MD program. She graduated from Rutgers University - Honors College in 2019 with a Bachelor's Degree in Cell Biology & Neuroscience with a minor in Health and Society. She currently has leadership positions at RWJMS as the Patient-Centered Medicine Course Representative and serves on the Interprofessional Education Student Advisory Council. During her undergraduate years at the Honors College, she was one of the Lead Mentor in Residence and worked in an Alzheimer's Disease research lab. Previously, Yesha has participated in summer research programs at NYU Langone - Orthopaedic Department, Icahn School of Medicine, and Biomedical Research Institute of NJ.
Caroline Kratka
Caroline graduated in Spring 2020 from Rutgers University Honors College with a major in Genetics. During her time at Rutgers, Caroline served as the Honors College Community Liaison Coordinator and the President of Kier’s Kidz Student Advisory Board. She also volunteered at Robert Wood Johnson through the HPO Volunteer Intensive Program, and completed an honors research thesis under the direction of Dr. Karen Schindler. Caroline will be entering the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine this summer, where she will pursue a dual MD/PhD degree.
Patricia Shelton
Patricia Shelton graduated from Rutgers in 2019 with a BA in Biological Sciences and is finishing up her gap year before she starts medical school at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS) this summer. During her time at Rutgers, she was the president of the Rutgers Special Olympics Unified Sports club team and she completed an interdisciplinary honors thesis in RWJMS’s Department of Pediatrics. During her gap year, she explored her interests in community pediatrics and intellectual and developmental disabilities by working as a research assistant in RWJMS’s Department of Pediatrics and completing the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program at the Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities at RWJMS. During the panel, she is happy to talk about her experiences on her journey to medical school including taking a gap year, deciding to be pre-med half-way through college (she started as a computer science major), and doing non-wet lab research.
Eshan Kaul
Eshan Kaul is a third-year medical student at RWJMS through the BA/MD program. During his time at Rutgers, Eshan was cofounder of the A2E and HC Ally programs, and loved serving his Rutgers community in a multitude of activities. In the future, Eshan hopes to combine his passions for healthcare, community service, teaching, and Rutgers into his personal and professional life.
