Talk: Healers on the Frontlines
Examining the creativity and resilience of healthcare workers and communities navigating through modern-day battlegrounds. The people of Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza saw intense conflict ravage their communities this past year, testing the limits of medical infrastructure, humanitarian response, and global solidarity. This talk will explore the successes and failures of frontline medical efforts, highlighting the resourcefulness of those providing care under siege and making an attempt to learn lessons and foster accountability.
The reach of social media helped connect people globally to intimate and tragic moments on the ground, shaping public discourse, advocacy, and even aid mobilization. Additionally, the role of AI and messaging apps in crisis response and advanced warfare has transformed our understanding of operating within conflict zones. The talk will touch on how this impacted the international humanitarian community's ability to be effective, and what the future holds for global health and humanitarian response.
