We are fortunate to have Shan Reeves, from Rutgers CAPS (Counseling, ADAP, and Psychiatric Services), working directly with the Honors College to help you address challenges and emotions that you may be feeling throughout the year. Counseling sessions are private, free, and confidential.

Let's Talk Hours
When you are confronted with the Valleys of Life, it is always nice to have a private, confidential, and nonjudgmental space to express your thoughts and emotions. All Honors College students can talk with Shan Reeves. Sessions are free.
Tuesdays, 2:00-4:00pm | HC E125
Thursdays, 2:00-4:00pm | Busch Campus,123 Bevier Rd, room 2105
Sessions are on a first come, first served basis. You may also schedule an appointment.

Wellness Workshops
This monthly workshop, led by the HC embedded CAPS Community Based Counselor Shan Reeves and fellow CAPS Counselor Kia Alexander, discusses a variety of topics centered around Blackness at Rutgers, throughout the U.S., and around the world. Engage in meaningful conversations that explore topics such as Black music, hair, the monolith myth, colorism, and more. Workshops in the Black Like Me Wellness Series take place every second Thursday of the month.

Mental Health Emergencies
If Counseling, Alcohol & Other Drug Assistance Program (CAPS) is closed, or you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please use one of the following resources:
- ProtoCall, a phone-based service for students in crisis when CAPS is closed. Call the main CAPS number, 848-932-7884, and follow the prompts.
- Acute Psychiatric Service (APS): 855-515-5700, a 24-hour emergency service for local residents. If you live outside of Middlesex County you should contact the nearest hospital emergency department.
- 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline: Call or text to 988.
- NJ Hope Line (Suicide Prevention): 855-654-6735
- National Crisis Text Line: Text HELLO to 741741.
