Kyle Flannery is a fifth year PhD candidate in the Molecular Biosciences program studying under the guidance of Dr. Chiara Manzini at the Child Health Institute of New Jersey. Kyle was raised in southeastern Pennsylvania and attended Bloomsburg University (now Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg) where he earned his B.S. in Health Sciences and M.S. in Biology. As a PhD candidate at Rutgers, his research focuses on identifying variants that cause congenital muscular dystrophies with brain malformations and leveraging zebrafish models to learn more about disease pathogenesis. Outside of the lab, Kyle enjoys running and spending time with his wife Amanda and their two cats Thor and Venus.
