Naomi Cruz (she/her/hers) is a third year PhD student in the Health Systems and Policy concentration at the Rutgers School of Public Health. Her current research centers on adolescent mental health and health disparities, particularly as they relate to youth suicide prevention, developmental disabilities, and eating disorders. Naomi’s previous doctoral work has also focused on maternal health and community engagement. Naomi graduated from Columbia University with a BA in Psychology and Public Health. As an undergraduate, she worked with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, interned at a legal organization advocating for youth in foster care, and was heavily involved in her school’s Planned Parenthood and Red Cross chapters. She will be joining the NJLEND Program at the Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities as a Public Health Fellow in the upcoming year. In her free time, Naomi enjoys commiserating about the Mets and the Knicks, reading mystery novels, watching stand-up comedy and Marvel movies, and volunteering.
