Nicholas Offei

My name is Nicholas Offei, and I graduated from the University of Ghana in 2021 with a BSc in Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology. After graduation, I worked for two years as a research assistant at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens. Currently, I am a doctoral student in the Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology Program, where I am focused on using genomic technologies to understand how transcription factors influence cell fate decisions.

Outside the lab, I have mentored undergraduate students, guiding them through their thesis research and helping them build professional and research skills. I have also supported them in crafting their narratives, leading to successful applications to graduate schools. In addition, I serve as the Intramural Education Program Lead for STEM for Development, which has allowed me to connect with many students from the global south. I find great joy in watching students grow and develop over time through my volunteer work and training.
