Ben Rholdan Sousa Pereira is a second-year Ph.D. student in Communication. Before joining Rutgers for his doctoral work, he obtained his M.A. degree in Management in Regional Development from the University of Taubaté (2018), working with the professionalization of young broadcasters in Brazil’s northeast countryside. In Brazil, he worked as Public Relations at the Federal Rural University of Amazon. The focus of his research now lies in health communication initiatives for underserved communities in the global south. His particular interest is in reaching out to those living in communities within the Brazilian Amazon. He aims to expand his work on preventing disease by promoting the hygienic processing of food. He conducts research in English and Portuguese. When Ben is not working, he loves to travel and spend quality time with his two little daughters!
