Linguistics

Jiaxing is a fifth-year PhD Candidate in the Department of Linguistics at Rutgers University. Her main research areas are in semantics and syntax. She enjoys using mathematical methods to represent the internal structure and meaning of natural languages under the superficial combination of words. She has specific interests in decomposing the semantics of the indefiniteness in nominal systems — including classifiers, demonstratives, anaphors, stripping (ellipsis), and how negation functions with indefinites.
Jiaxing is eager to engage in discussions related to job or grad school applications, conference submissions, and research projects within the field of language science. Moreover, she is more than happy to share her experiences and provide advice on navigating through college life and crafting a career plan as an international student.
