Catherine Buttner

Catherine Buttner has a M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently a doctoral candidate with the School of Social Work at Rutgers University. Her background in sociology and social work has given her the opportunity to work on a wide array of women’s issues both nationally and internationally leading to her current research focus on women’s experiences of exclusion through dominant reproductive health narratives in the U.S. Catherine has been involved with research in the areas of post-colonial social work, sexual exploitation, sex work, gender based violence, and women's reproductive health for a number of years. She currently works with the Center on Violence Against Women and Children on campus and teaches within the School of Social Work Violence Against Women certificate program.
