Matt Matsuda
Honors College Faculty Fellow and Professor (On Leave, Fall and Spring 2021-2022)

Dr. Matt Matsuda is an award-winning scholar and educator and has been Professor in the Rutgers History Department since 1993. He is the author of The Memory of the Modern (1996), Empire of Love (2003), Pacific Worlds (2012), A Primer for Teaching Pacific Histories (2020), and is the editor of many volumes and of a Palgrave academic series. From 2015-2021 he was the founding Academic Dean/ Professor in Residence at the Honors College, developing innovative teaching models and creating a dynamic interdisciplinary academic experience for a scholarly community. His current research is on history, genomics, and politics. 

Before assuming the Academic Dean role, he served as the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences Honors Program from 2010-2015, and as College Avenue Campus Dean from 2007. He was also known for his Open Kitchen nights at his HC apartment and guitar playing at coffee houses.
