JeanMarie Hartman

Honors College Fellow and Associate Professor

Dr. JeanMarie Hartman is a Faculty Fellow at the Honors College, where she resides, as well as Associate Professor specializing in ecological design and plant ecology research at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Her role in research, teaching, and outreach within the discipline of landscape architecture bridges the gap between ecology and design, forming a relatively new arena of scholarly inquiry. Her work generates fresh scientific understandings of complex ecological systems and indicates the ways in which design, planning and policy can help to protect and restore them. She received her Ph.D. in Ecology from the University of Connecticut, after first earning her M.S. in Landscape Architecture and B.S. in Botany from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
