You are invited to join Honors College staff and fellow students at this very special Coffee with the Deans. The concept of a first-generation student was introduced into federal policy during the passage of the Higher Education Act of 1965. At Rutgers, Student Access & Educational Equity (SAEE) is dedicated to providing services that support first-generation, low-income, and historically underrepresented students. Rutgers is proud of its first-generation students’ success and the work that is being done to support first-generation students in New Brunswick. In honor of the 52nd anniversary of the legislation’s passage, join the Honors College and the entire Rutgers University–New Brunswick community in celebrating the contributions of first-generation college students.
You can also visit any student center on the New Brunswick campus to take part in the celebration and learn more about the resources and services for first-generation college students; visit Lucy Stone Hall, A-Wing, 3rd floor to learn more about RU-1st and Student Access & Educational Equity; wear an “I’m First” or “RU-1st” shirt, or any Rutgers-themed red or black clothing; and share your story by using hashtags to join in on social media!
